Nick Smith is a contemporary artist known for creating physical art that appears pixelated. Using hand-placed color swatches, Smith is able to layer his work through both meaning and imagery, allowing him to perceive art-historical concepts differently. Although some swatches are labeled to complement or offset said color, they are meant to be open to interpretation.
Originally, he used his interior design background as a conceptual crutch. The swatches were an experiment that he later extended through inspiring his artist career.
Each series of his goes through a brutal R&D process implementing a unique visual aesthetic that moves seamlessly with the modern world.
